GEORGIE’S MARTINI

"I like to have a martini, two at the very most. After three I'm under the table, after four I'm under my host!" – Dorothy Parker.

Every bartender and martini drinker will use a different recipe or method, but this is how I like mine.

Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings 1 martini

Ingredients

  • 3 shots good-quality gin (my usual preference is either Bombay Sapphire or Harris Gin)
  • 1/2 shot extra dry vermouth
  • ice
  • to serve: lemon zest or green olives

Instructions

  1. A martini is all in the prep work. So, we start either the morning of, or the night before we want to drink a martini, by popping our serving glass(es) and our bottle of gin in the freezer.

  2. Once your gin is ice cold, combine the gin, vermouth and a good handful of ice in a jug or shaker.

  3. Now, use a long spoon to stir for 30 seconds.

  4. Now, wait for 30 seconds.

  5. Now, stir for 30 seconds.

  6. Now, wait for 30 seconds.

  7. In the last 30 seconds wait, remove your martini glass from the freezer. Stir your martini quickly, one last time, then strain it into your glass. Twist over a strip of lemon zest, or garnish with a large olive, depending on how you feel. Serve immediately and enjoy!

I have the perfect little snack to go with our lovely little Martini. Try these Dirty Olives.

Love this. May I also recommend a Lil trick I learned from my dear friend, who I deem the martini queen?
We love teeny shards if ice floating at the top, so if you take the time to smash some ice cubes in a bag, wrapped in a kitchen towel, then use the medium small ones when mixing (or shaking), they become suuuuper small and float on top and make it very pleasurable to drink!
    Cheers!

I’ll have to try that out! That’s the only issue with a martini, you have to drink it while it’s cold!
