Muddle the pomegranate arils in the bottom of a cocktail shaker, to release their juice. Add the cointreau, lime juice, vodka and a handful of ice, then clamp on the lid and shake until the cocktail shaker has frosted on the outside.

Strain the cocktail into a martini or coupe glass filled with one large ice cube. Serve garnished with a strip of lime zest.
